The MK100 case is very simple to open. Remove the two screws from the sides and slide the lid off towards the rear.

Auto Power On

The auto power on feature will turn the server on automatically when AC power is connected or when power is restored after an outage.

  1. Power on the server and press F2 a few times to access the BIOS

  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab

  1. Open the Chipset Configuration menu

  2. Locate the Restore AC Power Loss Option

  3. Change it to 'Power On'

The MK100/MK150 series can be installed with various mounting options, including:

This guide go overs the basics of swapping the Flex ATX style PSU used in all variants of the MK100 series.

  • Begin by removing the two lid screws – one on each short side of the case.

  • Remove 4x screws from the power supply. Discard the larger 2 screws from the left holes.

  • Pull the lid back 2″ and lift it up

  • Remove 2 screws from the crossmember. Cut all zip ties along the crossmember.

  • Lift the crossmember out

  • Remove 2 screws from the back of the power supply

  • Unplug the Molex connector for the drives

  • Squeeze the locking tabs and pull the power cables out.

  • Lift the power supply out of the case.

  • Watch out for any zip ties that may still be holding it. Cut them if needed.

  • Remove and save the 24pin to 4pin adapter

  • Leave the system sitting on a flat surface for this next step.

  • Remove the 5mm standoffs from where the power supply was screwed in.

  • Keeping the system sitting flat on a surface, drop in the new power supply.

  • Re-install the standoffs in the back. They will hold the power supply in place.

  • Install the 2 coarse thread screws into the back of the power supply.

  • Use the smaller 2 of the 4 you removed earlier.

  • Watch the 2 clips below for final cabling and assembly.

    1 - Product Overview

    1.1 - Introduction

    The OnLogic MK101B-43 is a robust 1U rackmount server meticulously engineered to provide reliable, powerful, and scalable computing for demanding enterprise and industrial applications. Designed for high performance, it supports AMD EPYC™ 4005/4004 and AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series Processors on an AM5 socketed motherboard, paired with up to 4x DDR5 UDIMMs for high-speed memory capacity. With expansion options including hot-swap 2.5” drive bays, internal 3.5” storage, and multiple M.2 slots, along with a FHHL PCIe4.0 x16 slot, the MK101B-43 offers exceptional configurability. Integrated ASPEED AST2600 graphics and a dedicated IPMI LAN port via Realtek RTL8211F ensure robust server management capabilities.

    System Contents

    The system label is located on the top of the chassis in the rear-right hand corner as depicted in the image below. The system label will contain the following information:

    • System Model

    • OnLogic Serial Number

    • Regulatory & Compliance Certification Logos

    *There is an LED on each side of the IPMI LAN port. Please refer to section 2.2 for LED definitions.

    The MK101B-43 features the following onboard Ethernet ports:

    There are 4x USB 3.2 Type-A ports in the rear and 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports in the front of the MK101B-43 Server.

    There is one VGA Video port located on the back of the MK101B-43 Server. This is connected to the AST2600 BMC Chip.

    There is one HDMI port located on the back of the MK101B-43 Server. This is connected to the processor’s iGPU

    There is one Display Port located on the back of the MK101B-43 Server. This is connected to the processor’s iGPU.

    The motherboard top and bottom view for System SKU is as below.

    Fan functionality will be noted by 2 LED colors, red and green. If the LED is green, the system fans are running as expected. If the LED is red, the system fans are experiencing unexpected fan speeds.

    The illustration shows how jumpers are configured. When the jumper cap is placed on the pins, the jumper is “Short”. If no jumper cap is placed on the pins, the jumper is “Open”. The illustration shows a 3-pin jumper whose pin 1 and pin 2 are “Short” when a jumper cap is placed on these 2 pins.

    Important Note: This is the only jumper on the motherboard. All other headers and connectors are NOT jumpers. Do NOT place jumper caps over these headers and connectors. Placing jumper caps over the headers and connectors will cause permanent damage to the motherboard.

    Connect the power switch, reset switch and system status indicator on the chassis to this header according to the pin assignments. Be careful to note the positive and negative pins before connecting the cables.

    This header supports multiple functions on the front panel, including the front panel SMB (System Management Bus), internet status indicator and chassis intrusion pin. Some functions of this header are unused in the MK101B-43 Server.

    This header supports the two Front Panel USB3.2 Gen 1 ports.

    This header supports up to two USB2.0 ports. It is unused in the MK101B-43 server.

    This header supports a speaker in the chassis. It is unused in the MK101B-43 server.

    These headers connect to the chassis cooling fans. All fans support Fan Control. FAN2, FAN3, and FAN5 are not used in the MK101B-43. Default fan configuration starts 30% and will increase incrementally based on component temperatures.

    The standard motherboard power input is a 24-pin ATX power connector. To use a 20-pin ATX power supply, please plug it along Pin 1 and Pin 13.

    Two 8-pin ATX 12V supplemental motherboard power inputs are provided.

    The MK101B-43 supports an optional discrete TPM 2.0 module. The TPM module included with the MK101B-43 Server is the Infineon SLB9670 TPM2.0 (13-pin SPI module)

    PSU SMBus monitors the status of the power supply, fan and system temperature.

    This 4-pin connector is used to provide a cabled base-board or front panel connection for value added features and 3rd-party add-in cards, such as Emergency Management cards, that provide management features using the IPMB. It is unused in the MK101B-43.

    The header is used for the SMBus devices. It is unused in the MK101B-43

    This header is used for PWM configurations. It is unused in the MK101B-43

    This allows users to clear the data in CMOS. To clear CMOS, take out the CMOS battery and short the clear CMOS Pad.

    These four SATA3 connectors support SATA data cables for internal storage devices with up to 6.0 Gb/s data transfer rate.

    This header is intended for connecting either end of VGA_2X8 cable to VGA header. It is unused in the MK101B-43.

    A socket is provided for a CR2032 battery. Regulatory requirements dictate the installed battery shall be rated for operation to at least 85°C.

    The MK101B-43 supports up to four 288-pin DDR5 DIMM slots in two groups, and supports Dual Channel Memory Technology.

    The following rules apply to when populating DIMMs in the MK101B-43 Server:

    1. For dual channel configuration, install identical DDR5 DIMM pairs (the same brand, speed, size and chip-type) .

    2. Dual channel technology cannot be supported with only one or three memory modules

    3. Only DDR5 DIMMs may be installed into the system. Other memory modules may damage the system

    When populating DIMMs within the system, the following population is recommended for each CPU configuration in order to maximize overall system performance (âś” indicates a populated slot):

    The system supports 4x DIMM slots, 192GBs of memory, and ECC/non-ECC UDIMMS. Maximum DIMM frequency is dependent on the number of DIMMS populated in the system.

    When a GPU is installed in the system, it is recommended that the minimum system memory should be at least 1.5 times the total GPU memory. For superior performance and to accommodate future workloads, it is strongly recommended that the system memory be 2.0 times the total GPU memory. Failure to meet these memory requirements may result in degraded performance or unexpected application behavior.

    Dr. Debug is used to provide code information, making debugging easier. Please see the charts below for Dr. Debug code information. To see where the Digital Display is on this motherboard, return to section 1.9.2 to view the motherboard map.

    Please follow the instructions below to open the system and service the specified component or device.

    Important Notes:

    • Before removing the top cover, the system should be powered off and the power cord unplugged.

    • The system must be operated with the chassis top cover installed to ensure proper cooling.

    Step 1: Remove the screws that secure the top cover to the chassis. Step 2: Push the top cover toward the rear of the chassis to remove the cover from the locked position. Step 3: Lift up and remove the top cover.

    Step 1: Lower the top cover on the chassis, making sure the side latches align with the cutouts. Step 2: Slide the top cover toward the front.

    Step 3: Secure the top cover with the screws.

    Step 1: Release the screws that secure the hard drive carrier to the chassis. Step 2: Lift up and remove the carrier.

    Step 1: Place the 3.5" HDD into the carrier with the printed circuit board side facing down. Carefully align the mounting holes in the hard drive and the carrier. Step 2: Secure the hard drive using the screws. Step 3: Place the drive carrier, with a 3.5" HDD installed, back to the chassis with screw holes aligned. Step 4: Secure it to the chassis with screws.

    Step 1: Press the locking lever latch on the drive tray to unlock the retention lever. Step 2: Rotate the lever out and away from the module bay and pull the hard drive out of the HDD tray

    Step 1: Place a 2.5" HDD into the bracket with the printed circuit board side facing down. Step 2: Slide the drive tray into the HDD bay until the drive is fully seated. Step 3: Push in the locking lever to lock the HDD tray into place.

    System fans are required for the cooling in the system. Please make sure that the chassis top cover is properly installed in order for the cooling air to circulate properly through the chassis and cool the system and components.

    If a fan fails, the ambient air temperature in the chassis will rise. Replace any failed fan immediately.

    Step 1: Remove the cover. Unplug the fan connector and remove the failed fan. Step 2: Align the mounting holes on the fan bar with the fan mounts on the replacement fan. Step 3: Gently place the fan on the fan bar. Make sure the fan is well seated.

    Step 4: Plug the fan wires into the correct fan header.

    This system has a single 315 watt power supply and can accommodate one AC power supply in the bay at the rear of the chassis. There is no power supply redundancy so if the power supply unit fails, the system will shut down and the user will need to replace the power supply unit.

    Images below are illustrative and may not accurately depict the CPU heatsink

    To remove the CPU:

    Step 1: Loosen the 4 corner fasteners on the cooler in a star pattern to ensure even pressure release.

    Step 2: Gently pull the CPU cooler up by the edges.

    Step 3: Once the cooler is removed, remove any thermal grease from the CPU.

    Step 4: Release the CPU latch lever pushing the end of the lever down and away from the CPU

    Step 5: Lift the lever to release the CPU bracket, then lift the bracket to expose the CPU and socket

    Step 6: Remove the CPU from the CPU socket by lifting the latch lever.

    Step 7: If not immediately reinstalling a CPU, fit a socket cover into the CPU socket to protect the pins. Close and secure the CPU bracket and lever. If immediately replacing a CPU skip to step 3 below.

    To replace the CPU:

    Step 1: Release the CPU latch lever pushing the end of the lever down and away from the CPU.

    Step 2: Lift the lever to release the CPU bracket, then lift the bracket to expose the CPU and socket.

    Step 3: Line the CPU up on the CPU socket using the golden triangle found on the corner of the CPU and additionally using the notches found on the CPU and CPU socket.

    Step 4: Gently place the CPU into the socket.

    Step 5: Close the CPU bracket over the CPU. Close the latch lever and secure it by pressing down and towards the CPU. Ensure the lever latches under hook and remains secure when pressure is released.

    Step 6: Apply thermal grease to the CPU surface.

    Step 7: Install the heatsink using the four screws around the CPU socket.

    After the CPU is installed into the system, a heatsink will need to be installed to dissipate heat. Thermal Paste comes pre-applied to the heatsink.

    Step 1: Remove 4x screws

    Step 2: Remove the brackets from the motherboard.

    Step 3: Attached the Heatsink provided with the system onto the motherboard.

    To remove DIMMS:

    Step 1: Press down on the latches on the DIMM slots on the motherboard until they are tilted away from the DIMM.

    Step 2: Gently pull the DIMM out of the slot.

    To replace DIMMS:

    Step 1: Press down on the latches on each side of the DIMM slot on the motherboard until they are tilted away from the DIMM slot.

    Step 2: Line up the notch in the DIMM with the notch in the slot to ensure the DIMM goes in correctly.

    Step 3: Gently press the DIMM into the slot until an audible click is heard which indicates the latches have been engaged and are holding the DIMM in place.

    Chassis intrusion pin

    This header is provided for host computer chassis with chassis intrusion detection designs.In addition, it must also work with external detection equipment, such as a chassis intrusion detection sensor or a microswitch. When this function is activated, if any chassis component movement occurs, the sensor will immediately detect it and send a signal to this header, and the system will then record this chassis intrusion event. The default setting is set to the CASEOPEN and GND pin; this function is off.

    Care must be taken handling the device to prevent injury to self or possibility of damaging the unit.
  • Read the entire manual before using the product.

  • Install the device securely per users manual instructions.

  • Wall or ceiling mounting device requires use of OnLogic mounting plate or bracket.

  • Use M3x0.5mm Flat Head screws to attach mounting plate or mounting brackets to threaded holes on bottom or rear of chassis. Screws should be a minimum length of 4mm. Add 1mm of screw length for every mm of additional thickness of plate or bracket beyond 1.5mm.

  • Caution, Hot Surface! It is normal for the unit to heat up and be hot to touch. Do not touch the heatsink area or enclosure during operation and 30 minutes after shutdown allowing the unit to cool down.

  • Ambient operating temperature must be between 0 °C to 50 °C with a non-condensing relative humidity of 10-85%.

  • The device can be stored at temperatures between -10 °C to 85 °C. Note: Unit must be stabilized within operating temperature before use, minimum 3HR.

  • Keep the device away from liquids and flammable materials. Not to be installed in a hazardous environment.

  • Do not clean the device with liquids. The chassis can be cleaned with a dry cloth or duster only. To prevent injury to self and/or damage to the device the unit must be powered down and all connecting power and other peripherals shall be disconnected prior to cleaning.

  • Allow adequate space around all sides of the device for proper cooling and to not exceed its maximum operating temperature limit. If the device is mounted to a vertical surface then recommended device orientation is such that heatsink fins allow air to rise unobstructed. Alternative orientations may result in reduced operational temperature range.

  • This device is intended for indoor operation only.

  • Caution, Risk of Electric Shock! Unit is powered by low voltage DC (Direct Current) only! Do not connect AC (Alternating Current) into the device!

  • To power the device use only UL ITE Listed external power supplies with DC output of 12-24VDC, see specs for details.

  • Install the device only with shielded network cables.

  • The installer should be experienced in aftermarket installation and familiar with general practices for installing electronics.

  • Service and repair of the device must be done by qualified skilled service personnel. This includes, but is not limited to, replacement of the CMOS battery. Replacement CMOS battery must be UL recognized and of a similar type as the original.

  • Proper disposal of the CMOS battery must comply with local governance.

  • Radio device is not intended for emergency service use.

  • To protect against excessive RF exposure, maintain at least 20cm from any user and the RF antennas. Only use provided dual band PIFA antennas with 2dBi/2dBi gain (2.4 and 5Ghz) for Wifi/BT.

  • This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.

  • WARNING: There is danger of explosion if the CMOS battery is replaced incorrectly. Disposal of battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery can result in an explosion.

    Connect to the reset switch on the chassis front panel. Press the reset switch to restart the computer if the computer freezes and fails to perform a normal restart.

    These two 2-pin headers allow the user to use the Gigabit internet indicator cable to connect to the LAN status indicator. When this indicator flickers, it means that the internet is properly connected.
