Opening the ML450
The ML450 can be opened by the user. This does not void the warranty, however, any damage caused by doing so will not be covered.
Required tools: P2 Phillips screwdriver, long Flathead screwdriver, 5mm driver if COM ports installed.
The following steps walk you through opening your ML450 case:
- Ensure your body is discharged of any static electricity by touching a grounded metal surface.
- Remove the 6x Phillips screws from the rear of the unit as circled below in red:
- Remove the standoffs from the COM ports and the DC jack nut (if applicable) as shown below:
- Remove the 2x Phillips screws from the bottom:
Note the ridge between the heat block and the lid:
- Insert a Flathead screwdriver into the ridge between the metal block and the lid (the lid is the top piece with the fins). Rotate the screwdriver to break the thermal paste seal and pop them apart.
- Lift the lid directly upwards to remove it. You now have access to the internals.
