MK150 Technical Resources

The MK150 can be opened by the user. This does not void the warranty, however, any damage caused by doing so will not be covered.

The following steps will walk you through opening your MK150 case, as well as auto-powering on and clearing CMOS.

Find your MK150 unit or model name on the right panel, and click on it to see the instruction set for it.

Opening the MK150 Case

The MK150 case is very simple to open. Remove the two screws from the sides and slide the lid off towards the rear.

How to Enable Auto Power On

  1. Power on the unit and press the Del key to access the BIOS
  2. Navigate to the Chipset tab
  3. Change “Restore AC Power Loss” to [Power On]
  4. Save changes and exit
  5. Auto power on is now enabled

  1. Locate the clear CMOS jumper
  2. Move the jumper over by 1 pin
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Restore the jumper to its original position
  5. The CMOS is now clear

  1. Power on the unit and press the Del key to access the BIOS
  2. Navigate to the Chipset tab
  3. Open the “PCH-IO Configuration” menu
  4. Open the “High Precision Event Timer Configuration” menu
  5. Change “Restore AC Power Loss” to [Power On]
  6. Save changes and exit
  7. Auto power on is now enabled

  1. Locate the JBAT jumper
  2. Move the jumper over by 1 pin
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Restore the jumper to its original position
  5. The CMOS is now clear

  1. Power on the unit and press the F2 key to access the BIOS
  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  3. Open the South Bridge Configuration menu
  4. Change “Restore on AC/Power Loss” to [Power On]
  5. Save changes and exit from the Exit menu
  6. Auto power on is now enabled

How to Clear CMOS

  1. Locate the CMOS battery
  2. Carefully remove it from the holder
  3. Wait 5 minutes
  4. Reinsert the battery
  5. The CMOS is now clear

  2. Move it over by 1 pin
  3. Auto power on is now enabled

  4. Restore the jumper to its original position

How to Enable Auto Power On

  1. Take the jumper circled in blue and move it to the pins circled in orange
  2. The unit is now configured for auto power on

NOTE: The blue jumper is for LVDS display output. As the MK150B-53 does not use LVDS, we can borrow that jumper to enable the auto power on.

  4. Change “Restore AC Power Loss” to [Power On]

  1. Locate the clear CMOS pads
  2. Short the two metal halves with a flathead screwdriver for 30 seconds
  3. The CMOS is now clear

Enabling Wake On Lan

  • Enter the BIOS by pressing F2/Del a few times immediately after powering on the system
  • Navigate to Advanced > ACPI Configuration.
  • Set “PCIE Devices Power On” to “Enabled”
  • Press F10 to save and exit
  • Download and install the latest Intel LAN driver from the ASRock website.
  • Click on Windows 10 64bit

  • Then find “Intel Lan driver ver:_” and click “Global” to download
  • Extract the downloaded zip file and run the Autorun executable inside
  • Click Next on all the installer prompts.
  • Now that the drivers are installed, go into device manager.
  • Right click on the network adapter and choose Properties.
  • Under the power management tab, make sure all of the boxes in the Wake on LAN section are checked.
  • Repeat this process for the second network adapter.

  • Close the device manager
  • Open the run dialog by pressing Winlogo and R
  • Type in “powercfg.cpl” and press enter
  • Click on “Choose what the power buttons do”
  • Uncheck “Turn on fast startup”
  • Reboot the PC
  • Wake on LAN will now be functional from both sleep and shutdown states (S3 and S5).
  • Use a program such as WakeMeOnLan to send the magic wakeup packet.
